The IFI Collection is a compendium of new and recent Irish films representing the best of Irish independent filmmaking talent. Together the films create a vibrant, multi-faceted picture of Irish life with subjects ranging from the historical to the contemporary. The Collection launches with a formally-varied series of feature-length documentaries: memoirs, experimental essays, documentary profiles and hybrid blends of fact and fiction. Many of the films, made under the Irish Arts Council’s Reel Art scheme, focus particularly on Irish (and occasionally non-Irish) cultural life exploring art and architecture, theatres, science, cinema, poetry, dance, philosophy, photography and cartography. Other films focus on sport, on rural communities, on maritime pursuits and on the ever-changing landscape. Here is a Collection that will satisfy the appetites of Irish people and Hibernophiles the world over.
The IFI Collection will be supplemented regularly with new drama and documentary films.
