Klostės
Klostės – Folds or Pleats - is a black and white, non-verbal feature film created by the people of Kaunas, Lithuania, together with Irish artist and filmmaker, Aideen Barry. The film, which was inspired by Kaunas Architectural Modernism and the hidden histories associated with the magical city, engaged over five hundred children and young people in its production with prop-making, animation and direction workshops while local dancers devised political dance, musicians composed modernist scores and bakers sculpted architectural cakes.
Celebrating the architecture of Kaunas and empowering local artists in the authorship of the work Folds is a visually sumptuous, immersive piece. It is the first feature-length work by internationally-renowned artist Aideen Barry, whose work regularly explores and interprets local community through socially-engaged collaborations. The film was commissioned by Kaunas 2022, The European Capital of Culture.
